Author: Max Stein

After fighting in Normandy during the summer of 1944, under the colors of heavy tank battalion number 102 of the military branch of the SS, the s.SS.Pz.Abt.102, the Tiger 114 is the only one of its kind to have returned to service by the French army. He was first integrated into the Besnier squadron and then into the 6th cuirassier regiment from 1945 to 1946. Baptized Brittany, he participated in the liberation of the southern pocket of Saint Nazaire, in the spring of 1945. He was then sent to Germany at the Münsingen camp for test batteries in 1946 where he henceforth took the name of Colmar. Back in France, it was stored at Versailles-Satory with other retired army vehicles, then in 1968 it joined the first Armored Museum in Saumur. After years of museum presentation, the curators and the Association des Amis du Musée des Blindés et de la Cavalerie (AAMBC) have decided to restore their 114 to working order, which will then become the only complete, authentic and still functional Tiger I: unique in the world ! Immerse yourself in the epic of the Tiger of the Musée des Blindés: its advent, its technical specificities, its historical journey and above all its extraordinary dismantling carried out at the Musée des Blindés in Saumur for its restoration. Some 78 years after it rolled off the production line at the German Henschel factory in April 1944, it finally reveals all its secrets.

104 pages, paperback, in color, 21 by 27 cm, Editions du Musée des Blindés.
