Tigers in the mud

A real tanker's book, and much more!
Written in the 1950s from fortunately preserved documents, by the youngest recipient of the Oak Leaves of the Knight's Cross, "Tigers in the Mud" constitutes a historical document as precious as it is essential.
Tank commander then "boss" of a Tiger-Kompanie, Otto Carius, ace with more than 150 victories to his credit, gives us a brutal and poignant account of the fighting on the Eastern Front in 1944, then in the West in 1945. Nothing is spared to the reader, starting with the cruelty of the dramatic confrontations which oppose the Germans to the Soviets in their titanic struggle. Fighting in terrain unsuitable for mechanized warfare, the Panzerkommandant will need to call upon a solid tactical sense to achieve its incredible successes. The “tankist” spirit is present on every page of the book: always in motion, “forward! ".
Filled with a sense of his mission and animated by an authentic warrior spirit, Otto Carius delivers memoirs of war imbued with both humility and determination but also humor, sharing with us his daily life at the front.
Enriched with photos, maps and drawings from the author's collections, this first edition in French has also benefited from the expertise of specialists in armored combat.
