This year, 6 tanks will be presented to the public to illustrate the theme of the competition "The Cold War 1980-1990".

During this event, the museum also offers tours of its reserves! A rare opportunity supervised by volunteer guides to make the most of it.
For security reasons, groups and visits will be limited. Places cannot be reserved in advance. Remember to take them as soon as possible the same day at the museum ticket office

Mr. Jose BRITO
José Brito, 47 years old Portuguese, is an architect by training. He fell in love with the model when he was 5 years old! First interested in airplanes and sailboats, he now focuses on tank models and dioramas, mainly in 1/35 scale. Renowned model maker, he is regularly solicited in the specialized press and is distinguished by the use of blue gloves, which earned him the nickname "Mr. Blue Hands" or "The Doctor". He collaborates with major brands of models and participates in specialized events in Portugal and internationally.
“It is a great honor for me to be invited to the International Model Competition at the Musée des Blindés in Saumur. I will do two modeling demonstrations and I will be part of the jury. My demonstrations will focus on painting and weathering, covering the simplest and most complex techniques, in order to achieve the most precise and realistic final look. See you in Saumur! »
This YouTube channel will be present at the International Museum Model Competition to film and broadcast José Brito's demonstrations! Led by a group of enthusiasts, Chroniques du Blindage was launched in 2013. It is now followed by more than 12 subscribers and has nearly 500 million views! A success that can be explained by the quality of its videos for model makers and figurine makers and the richness of its tutorials which reveal step by step how to assemble and detail a model, handle an airbrush or even age models and figurines.

Do you want to participate in the contest?
The competition is open on registration to all models presenting armored vehicles and land vehicles dating from 1917 to the present day (in coherence with the museum's collection). Each participant will choose to compete in one of the 10 open categories which allows different techniques, levels, ages, scales and creativity to express themselves!
The most seasoned will submit their model in the master categories, and in particular in the most anticipated of the competition: the theme. This changes every year and the 2023 vintage focuses on "The Cold War in Europe from 1980 to 1990".
The achievements will be judged according to 4 criteria: the mastery of the techniques used, the quality of the assembly, the respect of the veracity of the model and the historical fact.

For organizational reasons, we invite you to pre-register free of charge by email or by post until Sunday, May 21, 2023.
However, it will be possible to register on site on Saturday only from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for payment
€2 per piece presented.
Booking of meals
You can also book meal trays for Saturday lunch and Sunday lunch (reservation possible until 21 May 2023).
