I visited the Louvre when I had 7 years for the first time in the 70 years with my father who gave me the passion of history in general and more precisely of the 2nd world war that he had lived.
The organization, the discipline and the technical level of the Germans had always fascinated him and it was a mainstay of the panzer division, especially on the eastern front. I can still see him speaking to me for hours on the German strategy, the arrival of the new Panzers Modele V & VI, the technical difficulties of the first ones, the maintenance problems in this hostile universe, in addition to a very superior technology but also extremely difficult to control on the ground.
In short ... I remembered those 2 Panthers of the entrance of the Louvre, after passing the gate, I was fascinated by this mass (you imagine a blond head face 45 tons) that I had seen only 'occasionally on the TV in documentaries or movies ... but he did not remember at all and swears to me until his death otherwise.
I have just read to you, and you con fi rm me after nearly twelve years of doubt and solitude, that my childish eyes were not mistaken.
Thanks thanks thanks!!!
How many memories ... I have tears in his eyes ... he would have been so happy to be able to see them ... finally I will come this summer with my son Thibaud, 6ans, feru de panzer ... c ' is family ... MDR ... we will come to visit you on Monday 5 next, we will come from Connecticut, USA, where we live now.
Long journey, but in love, we do not count ...
Thank you to all the enthusiasts, to the volunteers and all the staff of the Musee in advance ...
Looking forward to seeing you and meeting you ...

I visited in June 2012 and did not sign this guest book how silly of me.
A very good museum and a lot more armour outside
waiting to be preserved. The Panther outside being restored got my attention, I wonder how progress is going with it.
Simply fantastic place to visit and you are in France and then it's a must see.
Very reasonable entrance fee, easy to find and only a small taxi fare from the train station of Saumar. I also left my wallet in the taxi and the driver was kind enough to return it, after laughing at my useless attempts at.

Great museum that I visited with passion which I praise in our model mall of the North: atmg59. This museum serves us as a reference for many armored vehicles are admiring the restoration work you do. Having done 2 times On Track in Folkestone where you are also recognized and appreciated. Then in our club we have a member of your area who only makes the armored that is understandable. Thank you for us: René59

Congratulations to all of you for this work of conservation and restoration of tanks and other military materials, the site is pleasant, but lacks a bit of update, for people living abroad it is difficult to go to Saumur to admire all the museum's treasures, it would be nice to communicate a little more of the novelties and noises of corridors on new arrivals of tanks and other projects of the museum and also on the restorations in progress ... thank you

J? R (TM) visited the museum the 16 / 08 / 2012.
Impressive is the only word that sums up the R (TM) place.
Having done my military service at Mourmelon in the 503 Rcc in 1982 j? R (TM) had the pleasure to find an AMX10 and an AMX30.
The amount of different tanks is surprising.
The explanations on the guided tour are clear.
What caught my attention, the R (TM) AMX50, the Tigre2, the Israeli tank Merkava and the Swedish tank.
My heart stroke, for the T34 / 85 and the T34 / 76.
Adept of the game "Red Orchestra 1 & 2" j? R (TM) could finally approach them in real.
My only regret: no Russian tank KV2.
For information, the inscription in Russian on the turret of the T34 / 76 tank in the room of the allies is "for the homeland", dixit Galina my wife of R (TM) Russian origin.
So a big kudos for the staff and for the museum.

I visited the Armored Museum for seven hours! For history lovers, it is a great journey in the past. Unfortunately, history is a succession of conflicts. In the rooms devoted to the two world wars, I thought of all those who died in these tanks ...
Thank you for preserving and restoring these witnesses of the past. Congratulations to the volunteers who are giving their time to refurbish them.
I dedicate my visit to the EAR and officers of the cavalry school, who have entered history under the name of Cadets de Saumur.
Thanks also for permission to take pictures.

I visited the Museum on 31 July. I arrived at 17h27 with my friends of St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, I had to content myself with a visit at the no load, in search of the TD M10 who was absent. Too bad, I'm looking for an image to illustrate an article on Wikipedia on the RBFM, an article I created.
I was impressed with the gear seen and pulled some pictures.
I'll be back, it's promised.

It was a wonderful discovery, very informative thanks to the guided tour which made us "travel" with passion in this universe of armored vehicles. The young guide knows and knows clearly his subject and he succeeded in communicating his passion with enthusiasm. BRAVO!!
As for the collection exposed, it is beautiful and reveals some very beautiful pieces and rarities.
Congratulations also to the mechanics who do a fantastic job of restoring.

I made a detour during my holidays to come this magnificent museum.I am from the region of narbonne and am a pationner of the second world war and modelism and I was not on watch to see these watches of iron in reel.un magnificent I went to the 22 / 06 / 12 when I saw a panzer II on a tank door that came back to the museum and I would love to know for what occasion it is out because the mud at the level of the undercarriage he had served.
still felicates to the people who are part of this museum.
ps: MY only regret this not to be able to see what the other buildings contain and to reach restoration because apart from the visitable part the rest of the museum contains many other machines.

Hello, having recently spent in Saumur for a short time, I discovered that there was a museum of the armored. I plan in the future to spend a holiday in the region which I was really pleased. I also mainly visit this museum that I have just seen virtually. It must be very interesting, so see you soon for the discovery. I am from the North.

Hi
Congratulations for the tremendous work realized.En particular the restoration of the PANZER IV 161.
Have the broken torsion bars been replaced? A close-up photo shows the fixing head of the MG 34 machine gun, what was the aimer system for the machine gunner?
My only regret, to live at 700km of Saumur and not be able to come to work as volunteer to the restorations.
Sincerely yours.

Passionate about the Second World War, I went in October 2011 with my father. And what a jewel this museum! A real museum, both furnished and informative, while remaining very interesting and fun for the simple "tourists" who have no particular attraction for the subject.
The work done by the team is absolutely formidable and remarkable.
I made a packet of museums in all the great west (Normandy, Brittany, even in the North ...), but this one will always be engraved in my mind .... The only one that can possibly compete by its wealth is the museum of armies in Paris, otherwise I do not see any that happens to her ankle.
Bravo to all of you !

I loved the museum visit, it was lka the second time I went there and I still love it so much, I regret not being able to climb into the King Tiger, elsewhere on this subject, why not as in any other museum offered something like that? for example 150 or more for a tour in kingtiger, ca would make more backgrounds ... on this good continuation
