The Friends of the Tank Museum
Being in origin a military institution, the public side of the Museum’s activities is administered by the Friends of the Tank Museum, a non-profit making organisation as defined by the Statute of 1901.
Official confirmation of their status in 1984 has entitled the Friends of the Tank Museum to apply for grants from the Ministry of Defence and local authorities. By means of events such as historic re-enactments, “advertising shots” and filming, where the financial benefits accrue directly to the funding authorities, the Friends actively promote the Tank Museum thereby helping it survive and expand.
The Friends also manage admissions, the museum shop and outside activities involving the use of museum exhibits. The Friends grow in number each year and hope before very long to include you amongst its number! Currently, there are more than 1,200 members.
As well as the newsletter which appears twice yearly, the Friends of the Tank Museum will also produce publications about particular vehicles or an important historic period.
You can join the Friends simply by completing the membership form and returning it to us.
